There is no other rating. If you watch this on a proper HD10 and above screen with proper audio, it is actually mind blowing. The team here deserve all to be knighted. Incredible.

Lacks the soul of the original animated one from 1994

Pretty solid CGI adaptation. There were a couple treasured scenes that didn't make the cut. And some of the timing was a little off.

It took me a while to sit down and watch this faithful and ultimately unnecessary remake. From the whole CGI set of classic remakes, I've only seen Beauty and the Beast, which was ok. I tried Jungle Book, but could not make it through the opening. I plan to give all of them a chance by watching them at least once, but I'm not in a hurry. What can I say about a modernized version of a beloved animated classic? The CGI is technically perfect. This is what Disney was aiming for way back when they made Dinosaur (2000). Surprisingly, the character animation falls short of the animated version. Simba and Scar, the key characters, suffer the most from performance issues. With that, I mean the voice acting and character expressions. The latter is a problem across the board. Simba is not playful enough, and Scar is not menacing enough. It’s not easy to fill the shoes of Broderick and Irons, but they could have done better. Nevertheless, it feels like the CGI took the majority of the budget. Even James Earl Jones, who reprises his role of Mufasa, lost some of his warmth. Which could have been the new direction. On the other hand, Zazu and Pumbaa were good. Perhaps the final fight between Simba and Scar is the only significant upgrade over the original. A hit and miss CGI feast of the eyes mostly turns out ok for the young generations, while older folks will miss the original, which was perfect in every way. Especially in hindsight.

“They call me MR. PIG,” - the real Pumbaa It is hard to not call this a money grab when it is shot for shot. Not quite has heinous as Gus Van Sant & Vince Vaughn thinking they could do a better job then Alford Hitchcock & Anthony Perkins. 🤐🤔🤑💰💰
