Where to Watch The Pickup

Approximately half-way through, I simply lost all interest as the film just has nothing to invest in and isn't a story that's worth telling. Pete Davidson plays a particularly unappealing and unfeasibly idiotic character They've clearly spent some money on the car chase sequences and attempted robbery, which are better than 'run of the mill' sequences, but what has happened to Eddie? He's so lost his action comedy mojo since BHCIII and never really refound it, not even in BHCIV, which is desperately sad to see. Eddie, please go back to your stand-up roots and find your form, re-find your offensive humour, and then stop trying to play to middle of the road families. BHC and BHCII are fabulous, fabulous films - we crave more of this from you.

Eddie Murphy brings his classic charm, Pete Davidson throws in his awkward humor, and Keke Palmer steals scenes with pure energy. The plot is a little wobbly — like an armored truck with one bad tire — but the ride is still fun. The action’s lively, the banter has its moments, and it never takes itself too seriously. Verdict: 6/10 — not perfect, but a good, easy watch that keeps you entertained start to finish.
