Where to Watch The Producers
- syntheteJune 17, 2026Pure escapist silliness. Mel Brooks is 50/50 for me. I (usually) hate Musicals. I love absurdity. Not idiotic—zany. There's a difference. This film is full absurdity, all the time, and the cast is superlative. Most of the songs and staged hyper-reality sections are actually worth interrupting the plot. (I would have cut Bialystock's final lament, but it's near the very end.) Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, Uma Thurman, and Will Ferrell do not let up embodying razor sharp caricatures the entire time. A special nod to Gary Beach.
