- Doc WormJune 16, 2026If you have time to visit 2004's rendtion of The Punisher, you'll find a competent crime drama that takes its time to set up its characters and get you invested in a straightforward tale of revenge. The script is pretty limp. There's not much to work with here for the cast in that department. Full of 2000s cheese. A few parts have aged better than others. Some of the individual motives and decisions are questionable to be generous but help serve some more satisfying narrative arcs. Particularly regarding his apartment complex of quirky neighbors that end up befriending him. There is some fun banter with its goofy cast on all sides. John travolta, as Howard Saint doesn't have much depth he is pretty solid as a foil to Thomas Jane's excellent rendition on the punisher. The fight with the Russian is legendary. It's way funnier than I remember. Most of the rest of the action is not too worthy but otherwise serviceable. If you can forgive its sluggish pacing and uninspired script, there's honestly a lot of fun to be had with the second on-screen attempt at The Punisher, even if it leaves a bit to wanted.

- levi c lundApril 19, 2026This is actually a pretty good punisher movie, both in comic accuracy, and narrative beats. If I never read a punisher comic I think this film could be entertaining on its own. Which I believe used to be the point. In appearances this actor may not be the best punisher, but in humanizing Frank Castle and making his plight feel relatable. I think this movie does a good job.
