- jasonfin2May 23, 2026If Troma Made Scream! This movie came out 5 years before Scream but it's obvious that Scream paid homage to this film. The premise, a bunch of high school friends do inna woods where they are stalked by a giant mutant alien frog. Yes you read that right! One of the main characters is a horror movie buff and lists of all the similarities the friends find themselves in to actual horror movies from Swamp Thing, Friday 13th, Evil Dead etc and how all the friends are going to die as a result. It's a schlock horror comedy so doesn't take itself too seriously. I also loved the soundtrack. It's got a good few laugh out loud moments and it's pretty decent to watch given it's aware of how silly it is. Give it a go if you just want something light to watch and which has a bit of movie history behind it
