I understand when people rate this movie so low but I have a soft spot for it. Still love it as much as I did when it first came out. However I do feel dizzy and feel like I am turning my head 45 degrees so often while watching that it takes a bit for me to re-acclimate to the normal world that is not at a Dutch-angle.

I actually enjoyed this one more than I expected.
Watching Thor slowly change from an arrogant warrior into someone worthy of the hammer was a really good character arc.
Loki was definitely one of the highlights. He’s not just evil for the sake of it. You can actually understand why he became the way he did.
A solid introduction to another mythical planet Asgard and the cosmic side of the MCU.

I just watched Thor, and I would give it a solid 5 out of 5 stars. This movie is an amazing introduction to one of the most iconic heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It perfectly balances action, comedy, fantasy, and heartfelt moments while creating a story that feels exciting from beginning to end. It introduces an incredible new world filled with memorable characters, and it lays the foundation for everything that comes later in the MCU. The movie follows Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, the powerful and arrogant prince of Asgard. After making a reckless decision that threatens peace between realms, Thor is stripped of his powers by his father, Odin, and sent to Earth. There, he must learn humility, responsibility, and what it truly means to be worthy before he can reclaim his place as the God of Thunder. It is a story about personal growth, sacrifice, and becoming a better person, and it is told in a way that keeps you invested the entire time. Chris Hemsworth is perfect in the role of Thor. He brings confidence, charisma, and humor to the character while also showing his emotional side as Thor grows throughout the movie. Tom Hiddleston is equally incredible as Loki. His performance is layered and emotional, making him one of the best villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Their relationship as brothers is one of the strongest parts of the film and gives the story much more depth. The supporting cast is outstanding. Anthony Hopkins brings wisdom and authority as Odin, Natalie Portman is great as Jane Foster, and Idris Elba, Stellan Skarsgård, Kat Dennings, and the Warriors Three all help make the world feel rich and exciting. Every character has an important role, and together they create a story that feels much bigger than a typical superhero movie. The action sequences are exciting and visually impressive. The battles in Asgard are epic, and Thor's powers always look incredible on screen. The movie also does a great job showing the beauty of Asgard, with stunning visuals, detailed sets, and impressive special effects that still hold up very well. The world feels grand and magical while still fitting naturally into the larger Marvel universe. One of my favorite parts of Thor is how it mixes serious moments with humor. Chris Hemsworth has excellent comedic timing, especially as Thor tries to understand life on Earth. Those lighter moments make the emotional scenes even stronger and keep the movie fun without taking away from the overall story. The pacing is excellent because there is always something happening. Whether it is action, character development, or learning more about Asgard, the movie keeps moving and never feels slow. By the end, it leaves you excited to see where Thor's journey will go next. Overall, Thor is an outstanding superhero movie with fantastic performances, exciting action, beautiful visuals, and a meaningful story about growth and redemption. It is one of the strongest origin stories in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and remains one of my favorite Marvel movies to rewatch. I absolutely loved every minute of it, and I would highly recommend it to both Marvel fans and anyone looking for an entertaining action adventure. For me, it easily earns 5 out of 5 stars.

I forgot how weirdly fun this movie is. It’s got this mix of fantasy Shakespeare drama and goofy small-town comedy that honestly shouldn’t work together, but somehow does. Chris Hemsworth walked into the role like he was born to play Thor, and Tom Hiddleston gives Loki way more depth than I expected on rewatch. Some of the romance feels rushed, and the movie spends a little too much time on Earth when the Asgard stuff is way more interesting. But whenever the movie leans into the mythology and family drama, it’s actually really solid. Definitely one of the more underrated early Marvel movies.

A Compelling Journey "Thor" is a solid origin story that mixes epic mythology with grounded character development, delivering an entertaining and surprisingly character-focused superhero film. The strength of the movie lies in Thor's personal journey. His transformation from an arrogant, impulsive warrior into a more thoughtful and worthy hero is simple but effective. The contrast between the majestic world of Asgard and the ordinary setting on Earth creates a dynamic that keeps the narrative engaging. Chris Hemsworth brings charm and physical presence to the role, making the character both imposing and likable. Tom Hiddleston's Loki stands out even more, adding emotional depth and internal conflict that elevates the family drama at the core of the story. The action sequences are enjoyable and visually strong, especially in the Asgard scenes. While some parts on Earth feel more conventional, the pacing remains steady and the film rarely drags. Overall, "Thor" is not among the most groundbreaking superhero films, but it successfully introduces its world and characters while delivering solid entertainment.

The film that proved the MCU could handle "space Vikings" without looking like a Renaissance Fair gone wrong. It’s a Shakespearean family drama disguised as a superhero origin story, directed by Kenneth Branagh with more Dutch angles than a tilted camera could handle.

“Thor” (2011) introduces the God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth), cast out of Asgard and sent to Earth to learn humility. The story is thin and largely predictable, but solid visuals and well-staged action sequences help carry it. If you enjoy comic-based movies, it’s watchable, though more for the spectacle than the substance.

My quick rating - 6.8/10. Ok, slightly behind (I kind of forgot to watch this), but excuses aside, I enjoyed this movie. EDIT: I was even behind on reviews back then LOL. Yes, I am a comic geek, so maybe a tad biased, although admittedly I did not read "Thor," so the rating is on movie merits alone. The movie follows the life of a "G-d" in the form of Thor(Chris Hemsworth), who is the god of thunder. He is raised in Asgard to become the heir to the throne in a pseudo-Greek mythological type world of people with extraordinary powers. When Thor's arrogance to unleash a war upon a race of frost giants that has been ensuing for many years breaks the code of a treaty of peace, Thor is banished from Asgard without his powers and his mighty hammer to the end of the worlds, or as we know it, Earth. Yes, there is a side story to all this, but it is woven between events on Asgard and Earth to tell the hows and whys of the occurrences leading to Thor's punishment. Well, now on Earth, without any power and no sense of what being mortal actually is, which leads to some humorous scenes, he meets his new friends by being hit by a car containing astrophysicist Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and her associates Professor Selvig (Stellan Skarsgård) and the lovely Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings). These lucky folks decide that he isn't some wandering drunk and help him on his plight to retrieve his magical hammer. During the relationship with Jane and back in Asgard, Thor's brother, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is able to seize the throne of king as Odin (Anthony Hopkins) falls ill, but does Loki have some ulterior motives here? The movie moves on with a steady hand of extremely well done character development, which, being helmed by Kenneth Branagh, did not surprise me at all. A master of making you believe in the characters is something no one does much better, and in the unbelievable story material he was given, he scores an A+. The scenes in Asgard look absolutely breathtaking, the scenes in the frost kingdom look so dismal you can almost feel the chill, and Earth, well, that is just New Mexico, nothing exciting (but some very good camerawork helps here). Of course, there is going to be some exciting action sequences to tide you over, but this movie is really about the acting and chemistry of the cast, which is something to appreciate greatly. I only wish they would've given a bit more time to the romance between Thor and Jane (yes, I did just type that). Their love story seemed to be an afterthought swept under the rug to keep the comic book story going. Ultimately, this movie, and Marvel Studios, again bring out a quality picture about a superhero, but doesn't just use eye candy action to wow the viewer, but uses real emotions to draw the audience into the trials and turmoils that occur. IMDB 7.0. Oh, after the credits, there is a bit more info about the SHEILD that unfolds, which is part of the ongoing story of the Avengers. Enjoy.
