A genuniely great movie that's very rewatchable. With something like the MCU, it can be easy for movies in this universe to get too much in their own heads and try to make each new movie into the biggest and best thing that has come out since Infinity War. Thankfully, Thunderbolts steers clear of this trap. It's a simple, at times quiet, and focused which is something I have desperately yearned for from movies these days. Yet the movie also manages to have a lot of heart and personality in each of its scenes, whether it was an action scene or a heart-to-heart between two characters. Marvel can be proud of this project. Its lack of box office success is just indicative of the some of the faith some fans have lost in the MCU throughout the years, but as an experience, this is what movies should be about.

Second time watching, and man this is exactly what I’ve been wanting out of the MCU for so long. Hopefully Marvel learns that if you just get a good cast and crew of talented individuals and let them cook, you can make a great story out of any characters. (They won’t learn anything and will be back to pure slop asap)

Thunderbolts maybe not go as crazy deep as Event Horizon (1997) but its still cool and got lots of grit and emoshuns and its part of Marvel so thats awesome. Event Horizen is like a horror in space with people going nuts but Thunderbolts is more like sad superheros being sad and dealing with stuff from before. Florence Pugh is really good as Yelena, she’s like fast and smart and cool. Winter Soldier (the sad guy with robot arm) and Red Gardian (the big funny russian dude) are also good. They all talk and fight and have like real friend vibes and work good as a teem. Its not just comic book fights but also thinking about feelings and bad things that happened, but no space demons like Event Horizen. Jake Schreer did the fights good and also the sad parts good too. Its nice that Marvel made one that dont treat us like dumb kids and let the movie be about deep things like pain and getting better and being not perfect. Event Horizen is all that but spooky, Thunderbolts is same but more superheros and less blood and no eye stuff.

It’s a decent movie. It’s unlike some of the other Marvel movies where this one has a bit more of a serious tone, but I think they did a great job showing what depression can look like in a movie.

This was definitly "Absolute Potatos" worthy. Also can we leave the poor people of new york. Between this and spiderman they can't catch a break!

What was that? Should that been funny or is this all Marvel came up with lately? That was absolutely sad! Definitely not a keeper!

I’m not quite sure yet how this film will fare upon multiple viewings. The themes at work here definitely feel overbearing and even ham fisted in execution, and there’s an undeniable unseriousness to a lot of the plot but when watching this film, I had so much fun. It feels wonderfully character driven and has undeniable personality both in the way it’s shot and the way it approaches the large scale storytelling. I think further viewings could potentially push my rating even higher but I don’t know yet if my feelings about this film are being influenced by the relief of finally having an MCU installment that makes me excited for more for the first time in years. I don’t think that necessarily matters in the short term though. From a theater going perspective, this film is a win for me. The action is tight, the cast chemistry is delightful, I laughed so much, and even though it didn’t make me full on sob, I definitely teared up. It’s nice to see marvel actually having fun again and doing so with seemingly clear artistic intent.

Playing catch-up with the MCU has been interesting, to say the least. Going in, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from Thunderbolts* because I wasn't very familiar with the team. I’d met a few of these characters back in Black Widow—and obviously Bucky in the Captain America films—but they weren't the "Thunderbolts" yet. Admittedly, the movie gets off to a very slow start; I was a bit bored for the first 30 minutes. Luckily, the pace picks up once it dives into the characters' motivations, personal struggles, and group dynamics. Some character arcs receive far more depth than others, but overall, the film focuses its energy on the characters who matter most moving forward. David Harbour is fantastic and consistently hilarious. Florence Pugh is terrific as Yelena. I’ve been a big fan of hers for a while, and ever since the original Black Widow passed the torch, Yelena has easily become one of my favorite MCU characters. She delivers every single time. Sebastian Stan turns in another solid, dependable performance as Bucky.Julia Louis-Dreyfus does fine with what she’s given as Valentina, but the character herself felt pretty weak and got on my nerves after a while. What surprised me most was the villain, The Void. MCU villains often lack weight or real consequence, but here, the stakes feel genuinely high. There’s a real sense of danger, which gave the narrative some much-needed heft. While I don't think Thunderbolts* quite reaches the heights of something like Guardians of the Galaxy, it’s a genuinely good time with surprisingly strong themes and plenty to talk about afterward. Out of the recent MCU entries, this is a really solid film, and I’m definitely intrigued to see how these characters grow as the franchise moves forward.

A nice solid Marvel movie. The plot shakes up the typical MCU formula some, and Pugh and Pullman both shine. In my opinion, Marvel needs to push those two to the forefront. Yelena has been the strongest post-Endgame addition and Sentry has a lot of potential. One thing that bothers me, fair or not, Harbour's Red Guardian just brings to mind "Love Sausage" from "The Boys". The tones of the characters are so similar that I can't keep my head from snapping back there.
