This does a good job delivering the kind of big-screen spectacle you'd hope for from a follow-up to a disaster movie classic. The storms are bigger, louder, and obviously benefit from modern effects, with a few sequences that are genuinely impressive. It moves at a good pace and doesn't waste much time getting to the reason most people bought a ticket in the first place. What it never quite matches is the charm of the original. The newer movie has more visual firepower, but it doesn't feel quite as memorable once it's over. The characters are likable enough and the cast does solid work, but the story sticks pretty closely to the blockbuster playbook. That said, as a legacy sequel, it does the job well. It sprinkles in just enough nostalgia to acknowledge what came before, while mostly standing on its own rather than constantly looking over its shoulder. Still a fun ride and an easy movie to enjoy.

What Twisters does so well – and what other remakes should do – is separate itself from the original. Musically speaking, the films are worlds apart. No characters from the 1996 film are mentioned or make an appearance. This is wise because the film never gives us a reason to ask, “Why aren’t we just watching Twister?” Rather, Twisters bets on itself to produce equally compelling and authentic characters. And it delivers.

This movie ruled and I wish there was a way to see it in 4D again. Pure 90’s-style gadget cinema and spectacle. A truck that can drill itself into the ground so they can shoot fireworks up it, radar imaging doodads, some sort of anti-tornado chemical. It has everything. I hope the third movie introduces another tornado that’s somehow good working with Powell and Edgar-Jones to fight the bad tornado because that’s what this movie suggested the trajectory of the franchise was.

    Great remake.

Aw hell, the Democrats done sent a tornado at us!

    It's not a classic. But it's a fun ride.

Great movie, if your IQ is 75. Here is my solution to making this a better movie: 1. The tornado needs to brutally kill every single annoying, self-absorbed, self-righteous, YT watching, idiot character in the opening scene. One and done. If it missed anyone, said tornado needs to turn back around and finish them off. It would be preferable if this occurred in a painful manner than involved rusty stuff that was previously hanging inside a barn, involuntary flying angry cats, or dropped them off on a sinking Titanic. Don't even get me started on that movie... 2. Run the credits, send the viewer to the exit, and give them half their money back. If this had been done, I would have watched this movie three times, and left happy and satisfied!

    Hallmark movie bullshit.

I loved this! A bit of mindless fun, with great effects and a great cast. The storms deliver!

Just boring. Typical script and storyline, only exciting stuff was the special effects but even they became tedious. It's over 2 hours long, could've been shrunk by 30mins.

Man I forgot how good this movie actually is. disaster movies are usually stupid and unrealistic but this is a rare gem with great structured character development and mostly scientifically accurate tornadoes. Go watch it it’s great. Glen Powell cooks in roles like this

The film delivers exactly what the title promises - a lot of twisters at once. The actors are convincing, either being spiteful or flirting with grace - depending on which way the wind blows.

Effects and physics might be better but the Hunt/Paxton chemistry wasn’t topped. Cast felt young, green and CW teen drama.
