Where to Watch War Machine
- MrTrivet3d agoIt's hard to shake the feeling that you're watching an unapologetically heavy-handed U.S. Army recruitment ad. The film glorifies military professionalism and brotherhood, and it's only when the alien robot finally appears that it develops even a hint of its own identity. The machine itself has a genuinely appealing design, which makes it all the more disappointing that it's so laughably incompetent in combat. Before doing anything, it painstakingly scans its surroundings, its weapons are surprisingly ineffective, and its ultimate defeat at the hands of an excavator perfectly sums up its pitiful military value. It's probably the best proof that the rule of cool doesn't always work - mechs look incredible in games like MechWarrior or Armored Core, but in reality, something this slow and cumbersome would likely be destroyed by an airstrike long before it could cause any real damage. The film's biggest weakness, however, is its paper-thin story. There's plenty of action, but I never felt invested in the characters or their struggle. It moves at a brisk pace, but ultimately leaves no lasting impression.
- ርልዪረMarch 6, 2026War Machine is Netflix's new alien invasion movie staring Alan Ritchson. Most of Netflix movies are crap but this one was fun. Is it going to win any awards absolutely not. Ritchson proves in this role why he needs to be cast in the new G. I. Joe movie as Duke! He plays the military role perfectly. His character is a little one dimensional but that is ok. He is surrounded with a decent supporting cast that does a serviceable job acting. The action is fun and the special effects are good for the most part. There are a few scenes that are really noticeable green screen. As for the story it's your basic invasion movie/one man army and nothing new is brought to the table but It's the journey of Ritchson's character that makes this fun. If you're bored and want a quick action alien invasion movie then head over to Netflix and hit play. By The Numbers breakdown: Cast-7 Acting-7 Trailer-8 Ending-7 Story-7 Visuals-8 Direction-8 Sound-7 Genre-9 Sub Genre-9 The Faces For Radio score - 77.
- Alexis AlexisJuly 27, 2026I’m starting to think some Netflix executive is going around slapping blue filters on every movie just to keep us awake during their boring films. It doesn’t help that the lead has the physique of a war machine, but the emotional range of an oyster. The film itself has all the originality of an ’80s B-movie, yet somehow I’m grateful that it has the decency not to last four hours and force you to watch it in multiple sittings. The fact that this is now a compliment says a lot about the state of modern filmmaking. I watched it because I was naively hoping the monster would at least be cool. Instead, it’s nothing more than ED-209 wearing a Tripod costume (or the opposite). Seems like we’re back in a new era of stupid American war propaganda.
- naren shenoyMay 12, 2026So this might seem like a generous rating to many people. Let me explain. I walked into this movie expecting mindless action and relatively shallow character development. And that is what I got, but it was well done action and plot that moves. I had not seen any trailers, I just figured this was going to be a Jack Reacher clone. I was wrong. It is Jack Reacher meets Metal Gear Solid with some Independence Day. And this can be a stand alone (hopefully) or expanded into a franchise based on the open ending. Watch this if you’re in the mood for mindless action with some decent effects and explosive action.
