Watcher was one of my favourite movies of 2022.
I remember when I first watched it 4 years ago, that I couldn't believe how suspenseful & good it ended up being.
And what I really love about it is, that it takes its time in how the stalker/killer is slowly & creepily revealing himself to our protagonist of the film.
And that bit in the supermarket was very bone chilling tbh it sent shivers up my spine. A lot to do with that is the camera work. It's brilliant how they executed that scene.
I really like how they keep him in the distance and not showing him up close until later on in the film. As this makes it more scary and makes us the viewer watching feel that our main character is very vulnerable.
Just outstanding filmmaking in terms of how they utilise the stalker/killer. I really appreciate when a film takes its time and keeps us locked 🔒 in that suspense & atmosphere 👌👌
And overall "Watcher" is a very watchable, gripping edge of your seat thriller all the way through.
And last of all My Ratings & Scores for "Watcher" is a 4.5/5 Stars 🌟 & a 9/10
This film suffers from that annoying trope in so many movies where there is clearly something going on, but everyone just refuses to believe or listen to the lead character. Despite that, I didn't hate this and it managed to keep the suspense going until the ending.
Really good overall movie, but the ending was so predictable and boring.
Polanski and De Palma would be honoured to see the effect of their work in this taut thriller. Great use of Romanian actors and locations to give it a unique vibe.
How many times have we seen stories where the wife sees something and the husband says, ‘Calm down, darling.’ And yet this film manages to provide a pleasant, suspenseful viewing experience. Slow pace, mounting tension and ‘exotic’ Romania.
While entertaining throughout for the most part, at the conclusion I can’t really say that it feels like a worthwhile watch. Naomi Watts always earns a 😍 from me, but I don’t really think I would recommend this to anyone. This is all red herrings, many with several logical loopholes and and an ending without a resolution.
I really like the main female actress, but the movie was only subpar in my opinion, that being said, it’s worth a watch one time
A great film - really good cast carry a Hitchcock/Gallo/Rosemary's Baby film successfully.
Story is interesting and engaging, if the pace is a little slow.
Definitely worth a watch.
It's not inherently bad, but there's nothing there that hasn't been done to death.
Slow to start, good twists, helped make the ending worth the journey
Watcher is a bit of a forgettable film. Unlike some in the genre, this movie never let's you doubt the main character which is unfortunate as the stakes just aren't there. Put it on in the background for some laundry but don't commit solid time to this.
