Farrell does a great job giving those of us who may be a little clueless into the transgender experience some insight - asking some hilarious and often thoughtful questions. Heartwarming and unique.
- @F_ReK.i5--7d agoI found the movie heartwarming. I recommend it but there is one thing that really bothered me. If someone I knew were transitioning from man to woman, I would have expected them to tried a lot harder to look more feminine. There is a difference between a man putting on women's clothes and someone who feels they are a woman in the wrong body. For someone who feels like a woman, Harper didn't bring her "A" game. Honestly, what woman wouldn't doll herself up at least a little knowing she was going to be on a televised movie? If I were Will, I would have turned to Harper and said, "Really!? You are going to go out looking like that. I can't take you anywhere!"

Beyond just showing how much they mean to each other, the film is also a nice educational opportunity for those who might have always harbored questions about some aspect of coming out as transgender.
- Kevin WardJuly 1, 2025Touching trans-american road trip movie that has Will Ferrell and Harper Steele revisiting much of Harper’s old stomping grounds after her transition. Along the way they take the opportunity to examine their own friendship—how it’s changed, how it hasn’t and what it means for the both of them moving forward. Some of the setups are obviously contrived but it never robs the experience of its sentimentality. It’s moving to see Will advocate for his friend yet also recognize that his celebrity can function as a coat of armor that can shield Harper from potentially dangerous situations, but may also insulate Will from ever really experiencing Harper vantage point. Worth checking out.
