Where to Watch Monster (2022)
- AjayNovember 6, 2025The sheer uneasiness and disturbing atmosphere of this show is only made more terrifying with the recounting of a tale - one from real life, where monsters roam the planet. As of this review, I haven't yet seen the second and third seasons, which I am incredibly excited to see - not because of how "cool" they are, but because of how much the exemplify the deviants that prowled our society, untouched by the public. I know people are always hesitant to watch re-enactments, but I can't stop gushing over how well this series is made, and how - despite the dramatisation in certain areas - accurately it reflects the monsters that preyed on people just like us, unscathed until it was too late.
- Motaba Movie centerMarch 16, 2025The Jeffrey Dahmer story is at times extremely tense, at times stomach-churning, at other times uncomfortable, but mostly it only offers a distant and superficial picture of one of the world's most famous serial killers and his environment. His emotional world is mostly characterized by stupor, and although he gives his opinion on society and human character, he does so hastily, with too much grip, and he only introduces his title character, but is unable to decipher him. Maybe he doesn't want to.
- CallumOctober 27, 2025ChatGPT said: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (out of 5) Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story – The Banality of Horror There’s a quiet dread that seeps through Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, not from jump scares or music cues, but from the cold, procedural reality of its subject. We all know the name Jeffrey Dahmer — it’s one of those that sits heavy in true-crime history — but this series makes you feel the weight of it. It’s a drama, not a documentary, but it walks the line so convincingly that it might as well be both. Evan Peters delivers a haunting, eerily restrained performance that turns revulsion into reflection. The production design and pacing immerse you in the drab, unsettling normalcy that made Dahmer’s crimes all the more terrifying — not the stuff of myth, but of apartments and alleys and neighbours who heard something and didn’t want to believe it. If Silence of the Lambs made us fear the intellect of fictional evil, Monster terrifies us with its ordinariness. Hannibal Lecter may have dined with fava beans and a nice Chianti, but Dahmer? He was real. And that’s far scarier than any movie monster. Pairing: Fava beans and a nice Chianti — but only if you can keep your appetite.
