The setting is clearly inspired by Pokémon/Digimon, but a bit darker, since the monsters can die, which happens relatively often. It really takes off in the second half, and that's what hooked me. From the base part of gathering allys to a trial where they have to fight for their lives (a bit like the chunin trials in Naruto) . the fights where solid, the animations good. Story was a bit different from others. Overall a good anime. Looking forward to season 2!
