- AjayFebruary 1, 2026An absolutely spectacular political thriller that really pushes the bounds of storytelling and paralleling reality. Keri and Rufus make for incredible main characters, and all of the supporting cast is excellent. Season after season, it leaves you wanting to get the next set of episodes - but, it does struggle a bit with pacing. Drama sections tend to lag and take away from the politics of the series, and feel heavy handed in trying to intentionally force something rather than play out organically. But otherwise, a great watch.
- craigg75April 21, 2025Disclaimer: I am a huge fan of Kerri Russell. That being said this is a wonderfully written script especially for anyone interested in foreign politics. Its fast paced, tackles a possible real world scenario well and is delivered by very good actors. Russell's husband in the show is an ex diplomatic with a large knowledge base on how the world works and how to get things done. Which runs up against his wife's aspirations to do the job her way. The dynamic between the two is gold, great chemistry.

- Coach RobertsNovember 22, 2024Implausible plot aside, The Diplomat has put together an admirable ensemble cast with some rather heavy hitters on the roster. Allison Janney proves her mettle as an icy antagonist to the all grown up Keri Russell. I've binged every episode twice and give the actors thumbs up across the board while the writing and plot line are a bit much to swallow. Half-way through Season 2 and we're about to jump the shark. But stay for strong cast.
- The Diplomat had one of the strongest openings I’ve seen in a long time. Every scene served the story, every conversation mattered, and the political tension was what made it so compelling. Lately, however, it feels like the writers are sacrificing that intelligence for unnecessary romantic drama and teenage-style emotional conflicts. This series never needed that. Its greatest strength has always been its sharp writing, complex diplomacy, and believable characters. Please don’t trade substance for cheap emotional distractions. Respect the intelligence of your audience and let the story remain what made it special in the first place. A great series doesn’t need more drama—it needs better storytelling.
