Watched it and you could feel the potential bubbling under the surface, but somewhere along the jungle path, it got lost. This miniseries reboot tries to modernize the classic pulp hero: Chris Moore discovers he’s the heir to the Phantom legacy and trains in the jungles of Bengalla to become the next masked vigilante. Martial arts, secret organizations and a dash of global conspiracy, it had all the ingredients for a sleek update. Ryan Carnes gives it a solid go as the reluctant hero and the supporting cast (Sandrine Holt, Isabella Rossellini, Cas Anvar) adds gravitas. The setup is promising: legacy, identity and justice wrapped in purple spandex and jungle mystique. But the execution? Uneven. The tone wavers between earnest and camp, the pacing stumbles and the production feels more like a pilot than a polished series. The costume redesign didn’t help, fans missed the iconic flair and newcomers weren’t quite sold. Watching it again feels like revisiting a “what could’ve been” moment. It’s not bad, just unfinished. A reboot with heart, but not enough punch.
