Created by Russell T Davies after Sarah Jane’s triumphant return in School Reunion, the show was aimed at younger viewers, but never talked down to them. It tackled real issues: broken families, loss, identity and even Alzheimer’s, all wrapped in sci-fi adventure. Elisabeth Sladen was magnetic, ageless, compassionate and quietly fierce. She made every episode feel like a hug and a call to action. If you grew up watching Tom Baker, this felt like a beautiful continuation.
