“Your Name Is…?”
Your Name follows High schoolers Mitsuha and Taki who are complete strangers living separate lives. But one night, they suddenly switch places. Mitsuha wakes up in Taki’s body, and he in hers. This bizarre occurrence continues to happen randomly, and the two must adjust their lives around each other.
The animation is absolutely breathtaking and the fact this released in 2016 and nothing that I have seen comes close to this film’s quality really says something. Even the small details such as the emotional tears running down their faces or the reflection of their eyes just makes me so much sympathy for the characters to the point i actually care for them hoping for a positive outcome. The score and soundtrack is absolutely beautiful specially Nandemonaiya and Sparkle which every time it plays sorrowful emotions are evoked. It also just really fits the theme of this movie of melancholy but also love and togetherness which although a prominent theme in Romance Anime’s, Your Name distinctively sets itself apart from the rest with its intriguing plot, relatable characters and just animated perfection. The only negatives I can say about this movie is the onset of the story tended to drag a lot but this is a minor issue as it immediately picks and finds its footing becoming consistently well paced after that. Additionally, the film can also become quite confusing whether it’s certain character decisions or the fact this movie leaps from different timelines causing the film to be out of chronological order.
But Overall despite its minor flaws, Your Name is a near-perfection of a romantic fantastical anime movie which I look forward to viewing again to see how my thoughts may change. The world of Anime has always captivated me but now after reviewing my first Makoto Shinkai film I will most definitely be watching the rest of the Disaster trilogy (Weathering with You & Suzume) and the other movies in his filmography.

Your Name.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
“Yoshi”
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Is an action adventure animated movie released on April 1st 2026 directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic. Starring Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, Keegan Michael Key, Benny Safdie, Jack Black, Donald Glover and Brie Larson.
Mario and Luigi now face a fresh threat in Bowser Jr., who is determined to avenge his father from captivity and restore the family legacy. Alongside companions new and old, the brothers travel across the galaxy to stop the young heir's crusade.
The animation is absolutely gorgeous and mesmerising to look upon. The Easter eggs we do get are fulfilling to see adapted from the video games. The music is also a joy to hear specially the underground theme which in my opinion is the best song from any of the Mario games even over the original main theme.
I really do appreciate this day and age of video game movies even though the vast majority aren’t the best, there are some amazing entries. The first movie in my opinion set a high bar to clear as it was a compelling self-contained story however that’s where the sequel falls flat.
The writing of this movie completely loses itself, the aim is to retrieve Princess Rosalina and connect her with Princess Peach however there is an unbelievable amount of subplots and in colloquial terms - “filler” which is just absolutely unnecessary and wasteful leading to the premise of the movie to be all over the place.
This movie also starts to character build but then ultimately shifts away from that destroying any sense of morality. The humour is dumbed down for younger audiences and extracting away the emotion and maturer themes from the first movie. I feel like there aren’t much themes in this movie as the emotional tone is non-existent hence why it is extremely hard to connect with this movie and ends abruptly to the point where I strongly believe the runtime hurt this movie as it should’ve been a much longer grand scaled movie. Princess Peach, Yoshi and Fox McCloud were for sure the main standouts!
Overall, although a severe dip in quality from the first movie, there are fun elements to be had with this movie with extraordinary visuals, music and action sequences that are better than ever.

“I Am McLovin!”
Would you go out of your way to buy alcohol for a potential relationship despite the consequences?
Superbad is a coming of age comedy movie released on September 14th 2007 directed by Greg Mottola starring Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Emma Stone, Bill Hader and Seth Rogen. It follows two High School Senior best friends - Seth (Hill) and Evan (Cera) who attempt to gain large amounts of alcohol for girls they desire hoping to have successfully secured a summer relationship before the College semester commences.
The main highlights in my opinion specifically come from the cops (Hader & Rogen) and Fogell/McLovin (Mintz-Plasse) as they provide a more compelling and enjoyable watch. I love their dynamic as they easily steal the scenes they’re in and screen time evoking the most laughs out of me and outshining the other actors by a mile. I really appreciate this era of comedy movies similar to Easy A, She’s the Man, 21 & 22 Jump Street - films that aren’t afraid to offend and just go off the rails which is something we don’t have anymore nowadays.
The writing of this movie for the most part is well structured and the awkward dialogue works in some capacity making scenes realistic and relatable. However, the humour can also fall flat feeling out of place leading to repetitiveness and questionable acting. The themes I admired was friendship and the importance of that sense of togetherness because of the deep message to the audience that the precious time we spend with our loved ones should not be taken for granted. I also strongly believe this movie caters towards not only the late-teens - teaching them the consequential conundrums of entering unknown premises and being peer-pressured into hunting for alcohol but to older adults who can interpret this movie as a symbolism of their own high school experiences and nostalgically reminisce about their teenage memories.
To conclude, although this movie in my opinion is not one of the best modern comedy movies of all time, I can’t deny its influence and being the pinnacle staple for 2000s comedy movies. Overall Superbad is a jubilant and enjoyable ride with a multitude of laugh out loud moments despite containing several issues so I definitely recommend this movie for all the teenagers and adults however, only to watch it once or twice as in my case my review on this movie had worsened the more I rewatched which also may be contradictory to other people’s opinions.

Don’t know where to begin with this tbh. One of the worst endings I’ve seen imo it was so weird. I went in blind thinking Chris Hemsworth was a detective working with Mark Ruffalo and Halle Berry’s characters. I did not know he was a THIEF! The good of this movie is the cinematography it looks gorgeous especially the drone work. The action and chase scenes were tense and I cared for Mark Ruffalo and Halle Berry’s character. The rest of this movie is hot garbage. The acting is horrendous I’m sorry Barry Keoghan was a train wreck his Irish accent was shining through his horrible somewhat American accent. Chris Hemsworth’s American accent was so unconvincing damn this movie is a mess and has problems. This did not need to be 2hrs and 20mins it’s so dragged out especially some of the scenes. Yeah the more I talk about this movie the angrier I get 🤣
Woahh this movie was thrilling those last 20 minutes was absolute peak. I know the volume is quite controversial in terms of cinema however it’s used smartly in this movie and actually pretty cool and useful. Chris Pratt delivers a solid performance in this murder mystery type movie and the twist at the end I did not coming.
One of the best video game adaptations ever. It’s hilarious, faithful to the video games, contains cool Easter eggs and the animation is just flawless. WAHOO!!!
This movie is alright nothing special but I don’t have any problems with it just didn’t wow me away. The action and choreography is amazing and the setting in Japan is actually pretty interesting and allows the movie to go through some cool stuff. I don’t know why people crap on silver samurai, yeah it’s not 100% comic accurate it’s still pretty cool and the cgi is great in this movie. I think I’m just noticing at this point that people just like to follow the crowd rather than form their own opinions.
Easily The best interpretation of these characters I’m sorry Patrick Stewart and Ian Mckellen aren’t great. Love Banshee tho can’t believe he’s not in the future movies.
I decided to watch this movie after the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato reunion and the music delivered. The acting yikes. It’s far from terrible it’s just ok nothing else’s really to say except from the bad attempts of lip syncing lol.
Wow where to begin I don’t really watch romantic movies I stick with action, animated and comic book movies but this movie made me want to watch different genres of film. The acting is amazing especially from Dakota Johnson and Chris Evans which I think is the best he’s ever acted. Daniel Pemberton’s score is phenomenal and the emotions and relatability is just mesmerising. I need to watch this again just to finalise my thoughts. There are a few adult ish jokes and stuff that went over my head and zoned out of but other than that fantastic movie (say that again). Celine Song is an amazing director and truly knows how to end a movie leaving an individual feeling to captivated.
Yikes you can tell Brett Ratner did not know what to do with this movie. I’ve always said Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is the greatest portrayal of a superhero but he was so out of character this movie he felt like a different person. So many character assassinations like cyclops sucks so hard. Rogue sucks so bad like why is she in these movies if she doesn’t even do anything. Pyro I strongly despise. The acting is just ehh and some dialogue is questionable. Magneto is ass in the movie. Done even get me started on juggernaut. The visuals are kinda bad but there are certain scene that look pretty good mainly from storm and iceman. This movie with a runtime of 1h 44m really hurt it because it felt super rushed. I could go on and on but the more bad I say the worst I feel about this movie. However the good is Iceman destroying Pyro, Jean/Phoenix she looked wonderful (especially storm and rogue). Kitty Pryde is the most underrated X-Men member. And the third act really grabbed me but it’s a shame the first two acts suck so hard.
I went in with a high standard since I hear people say this movie is one of the most underrated superhero movies but I disagree. The action, visuals, hair and make up design is amazing but the music and flashy lights are jarring. Iceman, Rogue and Pyro have no purpose whatsoever just to set up the third movie. Lady Deathstrike vs. Wolverine although short it was pretty cool and seeing Jean’s early descent into The Phoenix was interesting. Cyclops sucks so hard bro was barely in the movie. But hey Nightcrawler was pretty cool. I could go on forever but eh cba.
