I grew up watching it alongside plenty of others in the genre, but it still ranks in my Top 5 for its storytelling, practical effects, pacing and perfectly balanced scare factor. Bringing together two masters of the macabre, George A. Romero and Stephen King, was like capturing lightning in a bottle. Each of the five stories has its own distinct flavor of creepiness, ranging from genuinely terrifying to darkly funny, though not necessarily in that order. Few anthology films manage to feel this varied while still working so well as a complete package.
