When a young man, Aaron, is charged with the horrific murder of Archbishop Rushman, hot-shot Chicago lawyer Martin Vail takes on his defense at no charge. Aaron was a homeless street kid before he was taken in by the Archbishop. He's shy and speaks with a stammer. Vail is convinced that Aaron is innocent but after discovering a video that shows Aaron may have had good reason to want the Archbishop dead, he begins to question that conclusion.

I know "Primal Fear" is most famous for its iconic twist! But outside of that, this is one of the all time best courtroom/dramas anyway; from the dialogue, the acting and how its all edited together. The twist was built off very solid foundation, from the rest of the film.

This movie is the typical court room-thriller-killer drama. Almost nothing makes this a movie out of the average. The story is average, the love story totally un-necessary, Richard Gere is average, the ending is expected, and you don't get to know the motive for the murder. However, one thing is *great* in this movie. I am of course talking about Edward Norton's acting. Norton is truly brilliant in his role as a confused young man, and I have seen this movie more than one time only because of Norton. He makes it worth it to sit through the tedious flirtation between Gere and his love interest. Norton makes this a movie a bit over average, and he really is brilliant!

The movie was a bit boring, but Edward Norton's performance is genius

Excellent thriller. Straight into the action - something missing from most modern films. Brilliant acting throughout, excellent characters, highlighting true evil. If you loved this look for The Crowded Room

None of these 90s thrillers ages particularly well but this one is still quite entertaining

Edward Nortons` debut in which he acts rings around Richard Gere!
